Eugene S. Prebola, Sr., age 82, of Hobbie passed away on Thursday September 10, 2026, at his home. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Wilkes-Barre on June 7, 1944, he was a son of the late Albert and Elizabeth (Buynak) Prebola. He graduated from Coughlin High School, class of 1962. Gene served in the US Army from 1966 to 1968 during the Vietnam War. After an honorable discharge, he was a truck driver for many years. His CB handle was “Country Rebel” while driving truck. He retired from Tobyhanna Army Depot, after which he worked part time for several companies.
Gene attended Stairville United Methodist Church, Dorrance. He was a life member of the Nescopeck VFW Post 8227. He loved going camping and having campfires in his backyard with his family. He enjoyed watching Western Movies and listening to old Country Music.
In 1971, he married his beloved wife, Bonnie. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary in May. Together they raised 4 children and built a strong foundation for many generations to come.
In addition to his wife, he will be greatly missed by his children: Eugene S. Prebola, Jr. and wife Megan, Hobbie; Dawn M. Simms and husband Joel, Hobbie; Lee Ann Reh and husband Jimmy, Wilkes-Barre Twp; and Christina Saxton and husband Buck, Thomson, GA; grandchildren, Stephen, Jessica, Skylar, Mark, Ayden, Brock, and Brody; great grandsons, Andrew and Everett. He also leaves behind brothers, Albert Prebola and wife Nancy, Mountaintop; Mark Prebola and wife Judy, Wilkes-Barre; a sister, Sandi Meluskey and husband Bob, Wilkes-Barre; and numerous nieces and nephews.
