Gerald J. Good, 84, of Hobbie passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, where he was a patient for the past 2 weeks.
Born in Hobbie on July 18, 1932, he was a son of the late Foster F. and Pearl (Travelpiece) Good. He graduated from Nescopeck High School and worked at Wise Foods, Berwick for 38 years. Gerald was also a farmer all his life.
He was an active member of St. Peters United Church of Christ, Hobbie, where he was a past council and consistory member. He enjoyed baseball and was a great player in high school and coached little league. He loved hunting, with a passion he has passed on to future generations.
Gerald will be greatly missed by his wife of 58 years, Naomi (Berlin) Good; children: Sandra Smith, Hobbie; Paul Good and wife Arlene, Hobbie; Daniel Good, Hobbie; 4 grandchildren: Eugene Good and wife Kristie; Amanda Good; Jessica Yoder and husband Martin; Shawn Good; 2 great grandchildren, Alisyn Good and Levi Yoder. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Betty Good and Mary Good; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Ira Smith III; brothers: Otto; Merle; Lester; Carlos; Willis; and Charles; and sisters: Lenna Good; Ethel Scott; Erva Deisenroth; and Audrey Rohrbaugh.
A funeral service will be held at Noon on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at St. Peters UCC, Hobbie with Pastor James Stanley officiating. Interment will follow in Silver Maple Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the church from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
