Delphine “Sis” Evans, 94, of Nescopeck passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2022, at Bloomsburg Care and Rebhab Center where she resided since 2016.
Born in Berwick on January 26, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Addalean (Snyder) Steward. She was educated in Berwick Schools and worked at Consolidated Cigar factory in Berwick from 1958 until 1986. Later, Sis was employed at DataFile which later became DataGold, until retiring in 1998.
Sis was a member of the former Albright Methodist Church, Nescopeck and after it closed, she became a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. She enjoyed volunteering her time at the food giveaways at the Hope Center in Nescopeck. She liked working on word search puzzles and loved to clean her house.
In 1944, she married her beloved husband, Boyd Evans Jr. They shared 60 happy years happily together until his passing in 2004. She is also preceded in death by her son, Charles Evans who died in 2008; a sister, Glovene Gommer; and several extended family members.
She will be greatly missed by her daughter-in-law, Joan Evans, Berwick; grandsons, Michael Evans and wife Jennifer, Stillwater; Charles Evans Jr, Berwick; great grandchildren, Katie Evans, Alexis Evans, and Michael Evans; a brother, James Steward, Orangeville; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 East Third St, Nescopeck with her pastor, Reverend Susan Knorr officiating. Burial will follow in Elan Memorial Park, Bloomsburg. Friends may call from 9:00 AM until the time of service.
