Loren “Fuzzy” R. Artley, Sr., 75, of Berwick passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017 at Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital.
Born in Berwick on January 22, 1942, he was a son of the late Clark and Nell (Shimkew) Artley. He graduated from Berwick High School and served in the US Navy in the early 1960’s during the Vietnam War. After an honorable discharge, he worked at several different jobs, both locally and in Florida, to make ends meet. Most recently he was employed as a vehicle escort driver.
Fuzzy attended New Life Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church in Bloomsburg. He was also a member of the VFW Post 804, Bloomsburg. He loved fishing and enjoyed being outdoors. He was an avid Berwick Bulldogs and Oakland Raiders football fan. He also followed NASCAR, always rooting for Jeff Gordon. When he was at home he liked spending time with his cat “Buddy”.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy (Francis) Artley in 2014; son, Loren R. Artley, Jr; brother Larry G. Artley; and sister, Sharon Paisley.
He will be greatly missed by his son, Jan Artley and husband Steven Bassett, Florida; daughter, Lisa Artley, Berwick; grandchildren, John Morrow and wife Karissa; and Paisley Scalfer; great grandchildren, Carmindy and Gunnar Morrow; and Kaiden Harris; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at New Life Tabernacle Church, 138 East Third Street, Bloomsburg, with Pastor Larry Smith officiating. Family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
