Carolyn M. Mowery, 55, of Berwick passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at her home.
Born in Wanamie, PA on July 18, 1962, she was a daughter of Albert G. Vandermark of Glen Lyon, and the late Nancy M. (Adams) Kirschner. Carolyn graduated from Nanticoke High School and received her nursing certification from Danville Nursing School. She used her nursing skills while serving in the US Army. After being honorably discharged in 1981, she worked at several local doctors’ offices and nursing homes. Most recently, she was employed as a nurse at SCI Prison, Dallas.
Carolyn was a member of the Mifflinville Fire Hall. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing and camping. She loved to visit the Benton rodeo, and spending time with her loyal dog “Heidi”.
She will be greatly missed by her sons: Michael Vandermark and wife Joyce, Mountaintop; Mitchell Vandermark, Scranton; Jeffrey Mowery, Jr and wife Anastasia, Florida; companion, Jeffrey Mowery, Sr, Berwick; step daughter, Michelle Milheim and husband Corey, Berwick; grandchildren: Chloe, Jacob, Richard, Camden, Jaxson and Fantasha. She also leaves behind her stepmother, Pat Vandermark; sisters: Allison Vandermark Davis and husband Robert, Weatherly; Paula Vandermark-Naftzinger, Weatherly; and many nieces; nephews; cousins; aunts; uncles and extended family members.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her stepdaughter, Starlette Whyne; and brother, Tommy Vandermark.
A funeral service will be held at 6:00 PM on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 East Third Street, Nescopeck, with Pastor Mike Maleski officiating. Family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her son, Jeff Mowery, to help defray her final expenses.
