Paul C. Howard, age 74, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at home, after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Bloomsburg on August 1, 1949, he was a son of the late Norman L. and Meda M. (Long) Howard. He attended Central Schools and obtained his diploma in Japan while serving in the military. Paul served in the US Navy from 1969 to 1989, touring the world while he served our country. After retiring from the Navy he continued his education at Penn Tech in Williamsport where he earned a degree in business marketing.
In 1995 he married Sandra (May) Howard. Together they lived in Florida for 17 years and moved back to the area in 2014.
He was a member of Christian Covenant Community, Jonestown and the American Legion. Paul, celebrating 30 years of sobriety, was passionate about helping others walk through their recovery.
In addition to his wife, “Sandy”, he will be greatly missed by his daughter, Tara C Gorman (Sean), North Chesterfield, VA; stepdaughter, Rachael Gordner, Bloomsburg; stepsons, Jason Gordner (Michele), Pine Grove; and Christopher Gordner, Bloomsburg; 10 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind sisters, Marqueen Herring (John), Catawissa; Patricia Ball, Hazleton; Janet Horkey, Bloomsburg; Susan Barndt (Joel); and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David; and brother-in-law, Martin Horkey.
Family will receive friends on August 26, 2023, from 10:00 to 10:30 AM followed by a memorial service in Christian Covenant Community, 818 Winding Rd, (Jonestown) Shickshinny.
