Winifred Mae (Sitler) Hess, 96, of Berwick, was peacefully taken home to be with our Lord and Savior on August 9, 2023.
Winifred was born on May 2nd, 1927, to Cleata (Eckroth) & Sterling Sitler of Berwick, PA. She graduated from Berwick High School in 1945 and then married Edward C. Hess of Berwick on March 27th, 1948, at Evansville (EUB) Church.
Throughout her life she was employed at Weis Potato Chips, McGregor MFG, Royal Swan Foods and finally retired from Bercon Packaging in the early nineties.
She is survived by her children; Yvonne Carlin (Philip) of Newville, PA; Rodney Hess of Berwick, PA; Donna Bixler (Neil) of Montoursville, PA; Brian Hess (Angelic) of Berwick, PA; sister Hester Jones (Charles) of Lehigh Acres, FL and was blessed with 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Ed on October 12, 2009; sisters, Audrey Smith; Arlene Stimeling; and Zola Davis; and a grandson, Todd Hess.
Winifred was a lifetime member of Evansville Community Church (Evansville United Methodist), a lifetime member of the Briar Creek Grange and a former member of Eastern Star. She liked going to Berwick High School Football games, Reliance Fire Company Fish Fries and putting together jigsaw puzzles. But most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 23rd. 2023 at 11 am at Evansville Community Church (8 Lights Road, Berwick) with a light lunch to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Evansville Community Church, Berwick PA 18603 or the United Cerebral Palsy at UCP of NEPA, 425 Wyoming Avenue, Scranton, PA 18503 in honor of her grandson, Todd.
