Robert D. Wrede, fondly known as Bob, age 80, of Bloomsburg, PA and Wilbraham, MA, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2023.
He was born in Laporte, PA to the late Robert F. Wrede and Kathryn (Gumble) Wrede. He was a 1961 graduate of Central Columbia High School. Bob served in the Air Force as an aircraft mechanic. He was a longtime owner of Gene’s Alignment in Indian Orchard, MA, as an automotive mechanic.
Bob met his wife Margaret “Peggy” (Curran) Wrede when he was stationed at Westover Air Force base in MA, and it wasn’t long before they got married and started their family. They were both devoted to each other and an inspiration to others. They relied on humor to get them through the tough times. They both loved being grandparents and they were avid dog lovers. They thoroughly enjoyed attending family member’s and friend’s sporting events. They would drive throughout New England to show their support. Bob was predeceased by Peggy in November 2011. They had been married for 48 years.
While not with Peggy, Bob enjoyed going to hunting camp, playing pool with friends, and going to car shows and classic car swap meets.
He is survived by his children, Robert Wrede, Jr.; Kathleen “Kathy” (Wrede) Cantara and her husband Keith Cantara; and Michael “Mike” Wrede. He also leaves behind his granddaughter Taylor (Wrede) Matta and husband Ray Matta and their children, Gianna, Jay, Rayden, Isabella and Alilah. Bob will also be missed by his three sisters: Jean Bucher; Carol Sands; Linda Mont and husband Paul; and many nieces and nephews.
At Bob’s request, there will be no services.
