Gerald W. Champion, 52, of Berwick, passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at his home, surrounded by family. Born in Hazleton on October 17, 1968, he was a son of the late William and Lois (Hartzell) Champion. He graduated from Hazelton High School. Gerald worked for Deluxe homes as a welder until his health started to fail. He was an avid fisherman. He also liked to play pool and hang out with his friends. His greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his wife Joyce (Harris) Champion, Nescopeck; children: Ronda Espinosa and husband Edgar, Texas; Brian Shafer and wife Sarah, Bloomsburg; Amber Champion, Berwick; Chyann Champion and companion Nick; their mother, Joyce (Harris) Champion; Berwick; 9 grandchildren; a companion, Kimberly Young, Berwick. He also leaves behind sisters, Jean Ragan and husband Jim, Florida; Lois Dott and husband Buddy, Hazleton; Debbie Plesch and husband Joseph, Hazle Township; Tina Jacobson and husband Carl, Glenmore; Allessandra Shaw and husband Jim, Florida; brothers, David Champion and wife Linda, Beaver Meadows; Bruce Champion and wife Chrissy, Hazleton; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Margaret Champion and Cheryl Deisnroth. At his request there will be no public services. Heller Funeral Home, LLC, Nescopeck is assisting his family.
