John Lupashinski, Jr

John Lupashinski, Jr, age 78, of Berwick passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at Sunset Ridge Healthcare and Rehab Center, Bloomsburg. His loving daughter was by his side.

Born in Berwick on November 5, 1945, he was a son of the late Catherine (Olenick) and John Lupashinski, Sr. He was a graduate of Mooseheart High School in Illinois. Those growing up with John often called him “Sonny”. He served in the United States Coast Guard from 1963 to 1967, then in the Army National Guard until 1975. After an honorable discharge from active duty, John worked at various local businesses including the Berwick Golf Club and Rolling Pines Golf Course, after which he worked at Berwick Borough. Later “Lupe” worked at Berwick Offray and most recently, he was driving vans for the Berwick School students.

John enjoyed socializing with his friends at several local clubs such as the Russian Club, Slavonic Club, Ukrainian Club, and others. He liked hunting and fishing, as well as golfing. He also enjoyed gardening, cooking and was obsessed with mowing his grass.

He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Carrie Lupashinski, Berwick and companion James Farrell, Dushore; sisters, Catherine “Toot” McCann; Mary “Mootsie” Schlenk; and Theresa Glover; many nieces and nephews; great uncle, Frank Lupashunski; and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Paula J. (Jones) Lupashinski, on September 19, 2019; a brother, Max Lupashinski; sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Rivera; and aunt, Anna Mae Lupashunski.

A Devine Liturgy will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at SS Cyril and Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church, First Avenue, Berwick with Reverend Vasyl Petura officiating. Interment will follow in St. Cyril and Methodius Cemetery, Berwick.

Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the American Legion Post 273, 110 Juniper St, Bloomsburg, PA 17815. His family is grateful for the help they provided in getting him to medical appointments.
