Oscar E. “Buzzy” Drasher, of Hobbie passed away on September 15, 2024, just six days prior to his 92nd birthday, at his home. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Drums on September 21, 1932, he was the last living of 5 children born to the late William E. and Ruby (Brown) Drasher Pearson. Oscar enlisted in the United States Navy and served from 1950 to 1954. During that time, he was stationed on the USS Midway and sailed around the world. In 2023 he was presented with the Quilt of Valor for his honorable service. Oscar was employed at General Foam Hazleton for over 30 years. After retirement he teamed up with his son Barry to do a west coast turnaround from California to New York City, Truck 747. During his time driving truck, his CB handle was “Silver Bullet”.
He liked spending time with the boys, making hay on the farm. Oscar also enjoyed square dancing with his wife and hunting in his younger years.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, with whom he spent the last 67 years with, Mary J. (Heller) Drasher; son, Barry Drasher, Nescopeck; daughters, Robin Whitebread and husband Dennis, Hobbie; Kimberly Brewer and husband Terry, Shickshinny; grandchildren, Miranda Moore and husband Jade; Lindsey Dotzel and husband Christopher Jr; Shana Drasher; Shelby Slevin and husband Morgan; great grandchildren, Evan, Emmorsin and Ian; Braxton; Chase, Finn and Myles; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, and siblings, he was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law Vicki Drasher.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to any Veteran Organization of donors choice.
A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place in Silver Maple Cemetery, Hobbie.
