David B. Robbins, Sr, age 91, of Mifflin Twp passed away at his home on Sunday November 24, 2024, surrounded by family.
Born in Lancaster on September 12, 1933, he was the last living of six children born to the late Charles J. and Catherine E. (Brown) Robbins. He attended Nescopeck Schools. As a young man, Dave drove trucks with his brother, John, for Furgeson’s Trucking, Bloomsburg, who was a subcontractor for Wise Potato Chips. Later he worked for Berwick Forge and Fabricating as a welder, working second shift. During the day, he drove the truck for his business, Robbins and Sons Sanitation, along with cutting and trimming trees and razing buildings.
David loved to work and the sense of accomplishment he found in it.
He will be greatly missed by his children: daughter, Carolyn Johnson and husband Jan, Berwick; sons, Charles J. Robbins II, New England; David B. Robbins Jr. and wife Barbara, Nescopeck; Noel S. Robbins and companion Sandy Lisinbigler, Nescopeck; and Kent A. Robbins and wife Susan, Nescopeck; 12 grandchildren; and many great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Charles J. Robbins and John A. Robbins; and sisters, Edith C. Bankus; Nancy P. Steward; and Margaret McElrath.
At Dave’s request, there will be no viewing. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Ridge Road, Nescopeck.
