Carl F. Stair, age 93, of Nescopeck passed away on Friday, December 20, 2024, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, with his family by his side.
Born in Newport Township on April 1, 1931, he was a son of the late Bruce and Esther (Rinehimer) Stair. He was a graduate of Newport Township High School and continued his education through technical school to become a certified electrician. He served in U. S. Navy from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean War. After an honorable discharge, he was employed at the AC&F in Berwick, which then became Whittaker. Later, he worked at Garrett Railroad in New Castle and retired from Berwick Forge. After retirement, he drove a bus for Bower’s, transporting kids for the Berwick District. He used his knowledge as an electrician to help people out and supplement his income throughout the years.
Carl was a member of the First United Church of Christ, Nescopeck. He was a member of Knapp Lodge #462, Berwick, and the former Nescopeck Lions Club. In his younger years, he was a little league coach for the Bewick Clewells. He loved watching his children and grandchildren play sports and was an avid Yankees, Penn State, and Berwick Bulldog fan. He and his late wife enjoyed camping, travelling together throughout the United States, and spending the winter months in Florida.
He will be greatly missed by his children: son, Gary Stair and wife Susan, Sellersville; daughter, Debbie Bloom and husband Rick, Nescopeck; son, Todd Stair and wife Susan, Hobbie; grandchildren, Katherine Arnold and husband Brad, Andrew Stair and wife Margarita Franco, Travis Bloom and wife Jennifer, Tyler Bloom and wife Jayme, Taylor Stair, Troy Stair and fiancée Claire Dailey; 6 great grandchildren, Luke and Violet Arnold, Emilia Stair, Kendall Frantz, Lennon and Sienna Bloom; sister-in-law, Shirley Stair; brother-in-law, Rudolph Chapin; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Audrey (Garrison) Stair, on April 5, 2017; sisters, Dorothy Chapin and Judy Noble; a brother, Alfred Stair.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 27, 2024, at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 East Third Street, Nescopeck. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Berwick. Friends may call on Friday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of service.
