Larry A. Yeager

Larry A. Yeager, age 88, of Mifflinville went home with the Lord on January 5, 2025, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born in Nescopeck on July 23, 1936, he was a son of the late Cleo H. and Irene F. (Sitler) Yeager. He was a graduate of Mifflinville High School, class of 1956. In 1959, Larry was inducted into the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany where he served with the 33rd Armor Heavy Tank Battalion, driving tanks and as the General’s escort. He was honorably discharged in 1961. In the early days of his career, he worked for Leroy Knouse and Wayne W. Knorr, Inc. Later, Larry worked and retired from the heating plant at Bloomsburg University. After retiring, he worked with security at the Bloomsburg Fair, where he also had his own booth called “Larry’s Love Shack”.

Larry was a lifelong member and volunteer fire fighter for the Mifflin Rangers. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 273, the Elks Lodge 436, and a former member of the Moose and VFW. He enjoyed league bowling with his wife as well as riding snow mobiles and motorcycles and going golfing at Arnold’s Golf Course. He loved watching his children and grandchildren in sporting events or other activities.  Larry was loved by everyone and liked to make people laugh with his quick wit. Answering “Too early to tell” when someone asked how his day was going and “I don’t know I’m left-handed” when trying to avoid a question were two of his well-known quotes.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, MaryAnn (Gearinger) Yeager to whom he was married nearly 60 years before her passing on September 22, 2022. He was preceded by his sisters, Fay Bittenbender; and Saundra Yoder; brother-in-law, Charles Marks; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Yeager; EllenJane Ketchem and husband Robert.

He will be greatly missed by his daughters, Denise Stone and husband Matthew, Bloomsburg; Lorie Boyd and husband David Jr, Bloomsburg; son, Randy Yeager and wife Stacy, Bloomsburg; grandchildren, Tpr Anthony Stone and wife Destiny; Jonathan Stone; Zachary Boyd, Alyssa Boyd; Andrew Yeager and Elizabeth Yeager; and great grandson, Noah. He also leaves behind a brother, Dennis Yeager, Mifflinville; sister-in-law, AlyceJae Marks, Bloomsburg; brother-in-law, Donald T Fought and wife Nancy, Bloomsburg; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and numerous loving friends.

Family will receive friends from 10:00am to 11:00am on January 8, 2025, at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 E Third St, Nescopeck immediately followed by a funeral service. Interment will take place in Mifflinville Cemetery.
