Eloise M. Miller

Eloise M. Miller, age 98, of Berwick passed away on January 8, 2025, at Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital.

Born in Berwick on May 12, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Glenn and Vida (Adams) Belles. She attended a one-room schoolhouse in Evansville until eighth grade and was a graduate of Berwick High School, class of 1944, along with cousins from the Belles family. Eloise was a devoted wife and mother, who worked hard to provide a loving home for her family. Her door was always open to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren

Eloise was an active member of the Evansville Community Church, formerly Evansville United Methodist, joining at the age of 12. She played piano at the church for over 50 years, starting with Sunday School and later for church services. She was also a member of the ladies’ aide, assisting with meals and other church activities. In 2009, she received an award for volunteering with American Cancer Society fundraising drives. She enjoyed crocheting and baking; she was especially known for her sugar cookies. She also liked gardening and canning.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, Lewis F. Miller Jr, on January 24, 2018. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her daughter, Luanne Bankes and husband Allen; brother, Duane A Belles; and her sister, Janet Anderson and husband Ansel.

She will be greatly missed by her son, Kevin W Miller and wife Denise, Berwick; grandchildren, Susan Kowalski; Beth Pinterich and husband Richard;  Warren Miller and wife Stacy; great grandchildren, Taylor Austin II, Brendon Cope, Derek Pinterich, Reed Pinterich, Mallory Pinterich; great-great grandson, Lincoln Miller. She also leaves behind brother Niel Belles and wife Joyce, Wilmington, DE; sister-in-law, Christine Belles, Warren, MI; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, January 13, 2025, at Heller Funeral Home LLC, 633 East Third Street, Nescopeck. Interment will follow in Briar Creek Union Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 10:00am until the time of service.
