Franklin D. Balliet, age 76, of Berwick passed away on March 1, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Born in Pond Hill on July 29, 1948, he was the son of the late Howard and Florence (DeFrain) Balliet. He attended Milton Hershey School. He entered the US Army, and served as a SGT with the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Field Artillery Regiment from 1968 to 1970, during which time he was awarded several service medals including a purple heart. After an honorable discharge, Frank became a welder in the communications industry, where he built cell phone towers until he retired.
Frank liked being outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He enjoyed woodworking in his free time, and spending time with his grand pup “Bear”.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by beloved wife, SueAnn (Sharrow) Balliet, who passed in 2018; his son, Peter Matthew Balliet, who passed in 2014; brothers, Howard Jr, Thorton, Jessie, Robert, Alan, and Oscar Balliet; sisters, Amanda Balliet; Rose High; and Barb Balliet; sisters-in-law, Sara Catherine Miller; and Patricia Rhoades and husband Carl; and parent-in-laws, Harold and Dorothy Sharrow.
He will be greatly missed by his daughter, JenniLynn Balliet, Berwick; brothers, Alvin Balliet, Pond Hill; and Elwood Balliet and wife Debbie, Farmington, NY; sisters, Sandra Balliet, Berwick; and Dora Gayman, Benton; a host of nieces and nephews; grand nieces and nephews; cousins; and brothers-in-law, Harold E. Sharrow, Catawissa; and Thomas Sharrow and wife Shirley, Bloomsburg.
At Frank’s request, there will be no public services. Arrangements are being made for burial in Arlington Cemetery.
