It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joseph J. Venditti, Sr, age 94, of Berwick passed away on Friday, August 1, 2025. “Dutch” to some, “Dad” to his children, and “Pop Pop” to his beloved grandchildren whom he adored.
Born in Berwick on April 6, 1931, he was a son of the late Luigi and Gisella (Sabatini) Venditti. He was raised and educated in Berwick. He served honorably in the US Army from 1952 until 1954, during the Korean War, where he earned several medals including the Korean service medal with 2 bronze stars. He was employed as a salesman at Sears for many years and also worked part-time for the Berwick Borough Police Department.
He was a man of kindness, compassion, ethics and faith. Joe was a member of St Joseph’s Catholic Church, Berwick, where he was an usher. He was also a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed spending time with his family and woodworking. In his quiet time, he enjoyed the challenge of word puzzles and sudoku.
He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 73 years, Joyce M. (Basci) Venditti; children: Joseph Venditti Jr and wife Carol, Berwick; Bernadette Fonte and husband Joseph, Berwick; John Venditti, Tarpon Springs, FL; cherished grandchildren, Dr. Jennifer Venditti-Roadarmel and husband Kevin; Rachel Venditti; Kristen Venditti and husband Nick; and Julia Fonte; adored great grandchildren, Emma Venditti, Sophia Roadarmel, Liam Kusnerick, Mia Kusnerick, and Gianna Roadarmel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Peter and Angelo Venditti; and a sister, Rita Venditti.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, in St Joseph’s Catholic Church, 721 Monroe Street, Berwick, with Reverend William Barbee officiating. Interment will follow in Elan Memorial Park, Bloomsburg. Family will receive friends in the Church from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
