Susan Reider, 56, of Shickshinny, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 10, 2016 at home, following a battle with cancer.
She was born on July 17, 1960 at Nanticoke State Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Max and Nellie (Kulp) Knouse of Benton. She graduated from Northwest High School class of 1978. She had a degree from Luzerne County Community College and Keystone College in CDA Child Development Associate. She was employed at Luzerne County Head Start for 30 years. Also worked at Acme Markets, Weis Markets, Penn Mart, and had delivered newspapers for the Press Enterprise.
Susan loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her two brothers, Richard and Robert Knouse.
She is survived by her loving husband Rodney of 33 years; son, Stephen Reider; daughter, Melissa Reider, both of Shickshinny; grandchildren, Preston, Alyssa, Logan, Starr and Damin; brothers, Max Knouse and wife Fran of Virginia Beach, Ralph Knouse and wife Kathy of Berwick, Jack Knouse and wife Jackie of Hunlock Creek, Joe Knouse and wife Dorthy of Shickshinny, James Knouse of Alabama, and Thomas Knouse of Bloomsburg; sisters, Joann Artley of Wilkes Barre, Linda Thorne and husband Mike of Shickshinny, Patricia Dzock and husband Steve of Hunlock Creek, and Mary Washcalus and husband Michael of Hanover Twp; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Heller Funeral Home, LLC., 633 East Third Street, Nescopeck at 3:00 PM. Family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 PM until time of services. Interment in Sorber Cemetery, Reyburn will be at the convenience of the family.
