Wilbur F. Wynings, 93, of Mifflinville passed away on Sunday morning, September 25, 2016 at the Berwick Retirement Village II.
Born in Mainville on April 19, 1923, he was the son of the late Roland F and Fleta Catherine (Hauck) Wynings. He was raised and educated in Mainville. In his younger years, he was employed at the AC&F, Berwick. Later, he owned and operated a school bus, which he drove for the Bloomsburg School District. Wilbur owned and operated Hilltop Café in Mifflinville. He retired from the Columbia Montour Area Agency Transit.
He was a member of the former Harger’s Church, now United Church of Christ in Beaver Twp. He was a member of the Beaver Township Volunteer Fire Company, a former member of the Beaver Township Rod and Gun Club, and the American Legion, Catawissa. Wilbur loved antique cars, music, and watching the Lawrence Welk show. He liked watching basketball and baseball, his favorite team was the “Phillies”. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting with his brothers.
Wilbur was the last of his immediate family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ada I. (Baker) Wynings in 2008; sister, Kathryn Bloom and her husband Willard; brothers, Orval Wynings and wife Liva, Elmer Wynings and wife Nancy.
He will be greatly missed, by his daughters, Deborah Wynings, Mifflinville; Trudy Stout and husband Stephen “Rundy”, Mifflinville; grandchildren, Bridgett Coolbaugh and husband William, Aaron Stout and wife Jaime; great grandchildren, Madison Coolbaugh, Haydee Stout, Jared Coolbaugh and wife Jaclyn; great-great grandson, Ivan Coolbaugh, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 East Third Street, Nescopeck, with Chaplin Mike Delp officiating. Interment will follow in Elan Memorial Park, Bloomsburg. Friends may call on Thursday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
The family will provide flowers, memorial contributions if desired, may be sent to the charity of the donor’s choice.
