Bernard L. Mont, 62, formerly of Berwick passed away on Monday, January 16, 2017 at Timber Ridge Health Care Center, Wilkes-Barre where he was a patient for the past year.
Born in Berwick on December 19, 1954, he was the son of Beryl E. (Bevan) Mont Medon, and the late Bernard J. Mont. He was a graduate of Berwick High School, class of 1972. Bernie attended Penn State University and graduated from Bloomsburg University with a degree in Political Science. He was employed at Domestic Sales and Service in Nescopeck, and after it closed, he worked with his life-long friends Bill and Doug Zehner at Zehner Brothers Farm, for many years.
Bernie was a former member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Nescopeck. He loved music, going to concerts, and over the years, he acquired a huge collection of albums. He was an avid NASCAR fan, and collected NASCAR memorabilia of all kinds.
His is survived by mother, Beryl and her husband Leonard Medon, Wilkes-Barre; sister, Susan Mont, Berwick; uncle, Cyril Bevan, West Palm Beach, FL; Leonard’s children, Richard and wife Margaret, Lisa and Tom; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Mont; and Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Bevan.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 East Third Street, Nescopeck, with Reverend Craig Gommer officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Berwick. Family will receive friends on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
