Shirley D. (Price) Walters, 82, of Stoneybrook Circle, Orangeville, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at Bloomsburg Geisinger Hospital.
Born in Scott Township on February 28, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Myrtle (Varner) Price. She graduated from Scott School, Espy in 1951. Shirley worked as a seamstress at several local sewing factories in the Bloomsburg and Catawissa area, prior to retiring.
She was a member of Shiloh Bible Church, Bloomsburg. Shirley joined the Eastern Star Chapter 279 Bloomsburg in 1961. She followed NASCAR and was a Dale Earnhardt fan. She enjoyed working on crossword puzzles. Shirley will be remembered by many for passing out her homemade fudge near Christmas time each year. She could often be found catching up with her good friends, John and Mary Clark, while their loyal companions “Buffy” and “Bandit” played together, or spending time with her great-great niece, Jayden M. Gum and great-great nephew, Derik M Fester.
Shirley is survived by a granddaughter, Shelby L. Auchter; great grandchildren, Kayley Johnson and Rayne Auchter; brother, George Price, Germany; and many nieces and nephews, including Randy W. Gum.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, C. Walter Welliver on September 30, 2012; sisters, Jean Gum in 2000, Emma Mausteller, in 2003; brothers, John Price in 1983, and Myron Price in 2014.
At Shirley’s request, there will be no funeral services. Interment will be private in Elan Memorial Park. Heller Funeral Home, LLC, Nescopeck, is assisting her family.
