Wayne “Tim” E. Baer

Wayne “Tim” E. Baer, 90, of Nescopeck passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Berwick Retirement Village I.

Born June 6, 1925, he was the son of the late Herman and Eva (Sorber) Baer. He attended Nescopeck High School before serving his country in the United States Navy between the years of 1943 and 1946 in WWII; where he partook in at least 5 major invasions. He worked as a welder and hook-on with ACF, which then become Berwick Forge, and later the Whittaker Corporation.

Wayne was an active member of Wesly United Methodist Church, Nescopeck, and member of their Methodist Men Group. He was also a life member of the Berwick VFW and Berwick Fire Company. In his spare time, he enjoyed wood carpentry, canoeing, traveling, camping, square dancing, was an avid hunter and fisherman, gardening, attending local High School basketball games, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-granddaughter.

Surviving are his wife of almost 69 years, Joyce E. (Gensel) Baer; daughter, Jowayne Walton and significant other Donald Moss, of Nescopeck; grandchildren, Steve Walton and wife Theresa of Fleetwood, Scott Walton and wife Suzanne of Nescopeck, and Bruce Walton and significant other Joanna of Nescopeck; great-grandchildren, Ashley Shappell and husband Richard, Kristin Walton, Nathan Walton and wife Samantha, Alexandra Walton, and Kyle Walton; great-great-granddaughter, Addison Shappell; brothers, Reid Baer and wife Rosie of Seattle and Melville Baer and wife Marge of Center Hall; many nieces and nephews; and dogs, Sierra and Ebony.

Preceding him in death are brothers, Ray, Paul, and Layton Baer.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 4, 2016 at Heller Funeral Home, 633 East Third Street, Nescopeck, with Rev. Craig Gommer, officiating. Interment will follow at Sorber Cemetery, Shickshinny. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
