Edward W. “Fritz” Michael

Edward W. “Fritz” Michael, 83, of Mt. Pleasant Township passed away on Monday, June 27, 2016 at his home, surrounded by family.

Born in Centralia on November 7, 1932, he was the son of the late Edward S. and Jennie E. (Turner) Michael. He was a graduate of Ashland High School in 1950 and served honorably in the US Army during the Korean War. He was employed at U.S. Steel Corporation, Fairless Hills for over 33 years.

Fritz was a member of Canby Lutheran Church, Bloomsburg, and the Centralia American Legion Post 608. He enjoyed working on vehicles and wood working. He was a very social person who liked being around people. He was the life of any party and had a great sense of humor, even during his illness. He took great pleasure in taking his “furry girlfriend ‘Annie’” for daily rides.

Fritz will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Joan M. (Kishbaugh) Michael with whom he spent the last 27 years; son, Daniel Michael and wife Jacci, Newark, DE; daughters, Susan Devrous and husband Michael, Jackson, NJ; Diane Andersen and husband Mark, Jensen Beach, FL; stepchildren, Dawn Marie Leddon, David Shultz, George Shultz, Carole Shultz, Jeremy Snyder and companion Renee Bason, Kevin Snyder and wife Karen, Jeffery Snyder and wife Marsha, numerous loved and cherished grandchildren, great grandchildren, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dawn (Haertter) Michael, and brothers, CPL Daniel Michael in WWII, John “Jack” Michael and Charles “Mort” Michael who both died in 2013.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 East Third Street, Nescopeck, with his pastor, V, Rev. Stanley Bower officiating. Inurnment will follow in Elan Memorial Park, Bloomsburg. Family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 AM till the time of service.
