Hazel E. Halye, 81, of Scotch Valley passed away on Sunday morning July 24, 2016, at her home with her family by her side.
Born in Scotch Valley on May 11, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Orval J. and Alice E. (Buehler) Hons, and attended Beaver Valley High School. Hazel was employed at several local businesses including, Champion Valley Farms, Bloomsburg, the Ribbon Factory and Wise Potato Chips, Berwick. In addition, she worked hard to provide a warm and loving home to her husband and 5 children.
Hazel was a member of Mountain Grove Lutheran Church. She enjoyed baking and cooking. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially at the reunions they had at the picnic grove.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William J. “Buddy” Halye on March 2, 2001; brothers, Donald Hons; sisters, Catherine Thomas, Nancy Progansky, and Arlene Rubenstein.
She will be greatly missed by her sons, Arnold W. Halye and wife Margie, Scotch Valley; Jeffrey R. Halye and wife Sandy, Donalsonville, GA; Doug C. Halye and wife Audra, Scotch Valley; daughters, Karen L. Henry and husband Chuck, Scotch Valley; Leah A. Bankes and husband Albert, Scotch Valley; 9 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind a sister, Patsy Millard and husband Jack, Bloomsburg; sisters-in-law, Linda Reigel and husband Glen, Hamburg; Joyce Halye, Mt Holly, NJ; Nayon Halye, Hamburg; brother-in-law, Tim Halye and wife Mae, New Columbia; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 East Third Street, Nescopeck, with Pastor Philip Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Grove Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday morning from 9:00 to 11:00 AM and from 1:00 PM until the time of service.
