Laura M. Mensch, 80, of Riverview Apartments, Catawissa, formerly of Aristes, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2016 at Geisinger Bloomsburg Health Care where she had been a patient for the past week.
Born in Ashland on November 28, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Clarence “Jackie” and Eva V. (Levan) Smith. She was a graduate of Aristes High School, and was employed at Emenee Shirt Factory, Catawissa Blouse, and most recently, Ashland Shirt Factory.
Laura was a member of Grace Reformed-Millgrove United Church of Christ. She enjoyed reading, and traveling through local areas with her late husband, Carl. She loved all animals, especially her cat “Louie”.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Mensch, Sr.; step-son, Carl Mensch, Jr.; and brother, Elwood Smith.
She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Jean Fisher and companion Michael Fox, Berwick; grandson, Paul Fisher III and fiancé Danielle; great grandson, Gage Michael; step-children, Terry, Randy, Tom, Daniel and Lisa; several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; and first husband Gene Miller.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 12, 2016 in Elan Memorial Park, Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg, with Reverend Jane Hess officiating.
