Blaine C. Gearhart, 88, of Nescopeck passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at his home, surrounded by family.
Born February 27, 1928, he was the son of the late Millard F. and Irene (Bower) Gearhart. He was raised and attended school in Nescopeck. He was employed by Victor Barns as a mason for many years, and his talents are still a part of many local houses and buildings throughout the area. In the 70’s, Blaine began working at Maier’s Bakery, where he was employed until he retired.
He attended Hetlerville United Methodist Church. “Gizzy”, as many knew him, greatly enjoyed the outdoors, spending many hours hunting, fishing, and spotting deer. He also enjoyed riding go-carts, mini bikes and 4-wheelers. No day would be complete for him without having coffee along with cookies or scones, and more so, since his health began to fail. His greatest love was spending time with his wife and family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Kathleen L. (Blaine), with whom he spent the past 27 years; children: Jason Blaine and wife Alicia, Nescopeck; Debra Schultz and husband James Sr., Berwick; Drew Welsh, Jr and wife Teresa of Natalia, TX; Brenda Gearhart, GA and Patricia Rubery, Berwick. He also leaves behind many grandchildren including, Jordin, Dominic and Jamison Blaine; James Schultz Jr. and wife Lisa; Julie Broyan and husband Frank; Jamie Kowalski and husband Brad; Tiffany Juettemeyer and husband Jeremiah; Justin Welsh; several great grandchildren including, Nicholas, Alexandra, Samantha, Cooper, Finn, Autumn, Troy, Amber and Trent; and loyal canine companions “Abbie” and “Sky”.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Mattive; sister, Louise Brewington; brother, Robert Gearhart in infancy; and previous wife, Joan Eroh Gearhart.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday, October 31, 2016 at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 East Third Street, Nescopeck with Reverend John Bondhus officiating. Family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
