Elvira Margot Marie (Korbus) Engelberger, 86, of Zion Grove passed away on Friday, November 18, 2016 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born in Manheim Germany on June 13, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Josef and Anna (Abendschon) Korbus. She was raised and educated in Germany, and moved to the United States in 1954. After moving, she was employed as a payroll clerk in Philadelphia. Most recently she worked at Shenandoah Rag Company for over 20 years.
“Elvie” was a member of the Catawissa Senior Citizens. She enjoyed working on word search puzzles, and when she was younger, crocheting. She also like watching gameshows such as Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, which is how she learned English.
She will be greatly missed by her loving children: daughters, Cathy Kuczynski and husband Dennis; Nancy Engelberger; and Donna Engelberger, all of Bloomsburg; sons, Joseph Engelberger and wife Martina, Zion Grove; William Engelberger and wife Edith, Bloomsburg; 5 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; and 6 great step-grandchildren. She also leaves behind a sister, Elfriede Pruss, Toledo, OH; brother, Josef Korbus, Germany; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred J. Engelberger in 2007; and brothers, Herbert and Edgar Korbus.
At Elvie’s request, services will be private at the convenience of the family. Heller Funeral Home, LLC, Nescopeck is assisting her family.
