Carl E. Levan, 66, of Benton passed away on Monday, February 27, 2017 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was a patient for the past week.
Born in Bloomsburg on February 8, 1951, he was a son of the late Carl C. and Jean H. (Pursel) Levan. He graduated from Bloomsburg High School, and worked in the maintenance department at Bloomsburg Hospital for over 20 years. He later worked at Ryman Trucking, Nescopeck, and most recently at Roman Noodles, Lancaster.
“Smiley” as many knew him, enjoyed going camping and fishing. He also liked ceramics, yard sales and auctions. He spent many hours with taking care of his horses, and many pups. He loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 17 years, Virginia (Tessmer) Levan; and her children, Edward Blalock and companion Amy Shaffer, and Michelee Cool and husband Alan. He is also survived by his children, Angie, Carl Jr, and Renee; 37 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Jane Mensch, wife of Robert; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepson, Artie Blalock and a brother, Larry Levan.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday, March 6, 2017 at Living Hope Community Church, 102 Warren Street, Nescopeck with Pastor Mike Maleski officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery, Berwick. Family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
