Harold R. Hons


Harold R. Hons, 
82, of Mifflinville passed away on Monday, February 27, 2017 at his home, with his family at his side.

Born in Berwick on May 21, 1934, he was a son of the late Roscoe and Anna (Drevenak) Hons. He was a 1952 graduate of Berwick High School. Harold served honorably in US Army from 1954 to 1956. He worked in the maintenance department at Bloomsburg Craftsman from the year it opened until his retirement in 1996.

Harold was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mifflinville, and a member of the Mifflin Forest Rangers. He enjoyed being outdoors, either fishing, hunting or playing golf. He also like woodworking, often building requested items for the house, or gifts to give to others.

He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 57 years, Dorothy M. “Dot” (Kneut) Hons; sons, Eric R. Hons and wife Debra, Benton; Harold R. Hons, Jr and wife Sue, Millville; daughters, Holly M. Hons and husband Tim Pieper, Apollo Beach, FL; Tracy L. Harkins and husband Tom, Bloomsburg; adored grandchildren, Stacey Trinchere and husband Jason; Jason Hons and wife Carina, T.J. Harkins; Trey Harkins; Alyssa Hons; and cherished great grandchildren, Cheyanne and Kaylee Trinchere.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Warren Hons.

A private graveside service will be held in Mifflinville Cemetery at the convenience of the family, with his pastor, Reverend Brian Vasey officiating.
