Early in the morning on March 8th, 2017, at Geisinger Bloomsburg Health Care Center, Barbara S. Eichner, at the young age of 61, concluded her journey in life and went home to the Lord. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Barb was born in Shamokin, PA in 1955. She graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes High School in 1973 and attended Penn State University.
She moved to Bloomsburg in 1976 and married her husband, George, on October 9, 1976. A son, Aaron Michael, was born on December 26, 1979.
Barb worked a variety of jobs until starting at Suncom Industries in 1980, where she worked until retiring, in 1996, as production supervisor. She then started with the Mental Health Association, and later with the Advocacy Alliance until illness forced her to retire in March 2015.
She was an accomplished musician who could sing and play piano, guitar and flute. She was extraordinarily proud of her work with the disabled and was a tireless advocate for parity in health care. Barb also was extremely proud of her son, Aaron, who was also became a very talented musician.
Barb attended St. Columba Catholic Church, 342 Iron Street, Bloomsburg, where a memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 11:00. Family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Heller Funeral Home, LLC is honored to be serving the family.
