Gordon E. Mowery, 75, of Beach Haven passed away peacefully on June 7, 2017, at home.
Born in Pond Hill on February 16, 1942, he was the son of the late Gordon A. and Margaret M. (Mowery) Shaffer. He attended school in Nescopeck. Most recently, Gordon worked at Berwick Garage Company. Previously he was employed at John’s Texaco, Nescopeck. He was also a bus driver for Bower Bus Company, as well as a truck driver.
Gordon was a member of the Garibaldi and the Slavonic Clubs, Berwick. He was a former member of the VFW 821, Berwick and the Mocanaqua Sporting Club. His favorite hobby was working on cars, and he was known as a great mechanic.
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 52 years, Eva M. (DeFrain) Mowery; daughter, Kimberly Holdren, Port Royal; son, Keith “Jake” Mowery, Berwick; granddaughter, Blance Holdren, Mt. Union; sisters, Eva Gross, Berwick; Lorrie Shannon, Nescopeck; Jane Shaffer, Nescopeck; brother, Bob Shaffer, Oregon; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Francis Shannon and Barry Gross.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 in Elan Memorial Park, Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg, with Pastor Mike Delp officiating.
