Mary Eleanor Vegh

Mary Eleanor Vegh, 85, formerly of Mountaintop passed away Saturday, October 14, 2017, at her daughter’s home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born Mary Eleanor Hazelwood, in Pittsburgh on February 2, 1932, she was also known as “Miss Ellie”, “Mom” or “Gram”. Her parents were the late Alan W. and Eleanor A. (Darby) Hazelwood. She was a graduate of Ambler High School. Eleanor was employed for many years as a secretary at L&L Plumbing and Heating in Allentown, retiring in 1985. She also worked as a nanny for many families.

She was a member of Cornerstone Christian Fellowship in Mountain Top. Eleanor was well known for making her “Gram Jam”. Her favorite pass-times included doing jigsaw puzzles, gardening, baking, and listening to music. She loved animals. She had a passion for the country life and greatly enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She was an extra-kind, loving, nurturing, caring, compassionate, yet stubborn lady. She will be greatly missed by her daughters: Mrs. Donna Julius, Bloomsburg; Mrs. Patricia Nee, wife of Lawrence, Albrightsville; Mrs. Georgianne Wiskoski, wife of Ron, Weatherly; and Mrs. Lisa Stoll, wife of Mark, North Carolina; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren. She was looking forward to the birth of 2 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents Eleanor was preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Checksfield and a sister, Georgianna Bussinger.

At their request, there will be no public services. The family has scheduled a private family gathering at their convenience. Heller Funeral Home, LLC, Nescopeck is assisting her family.
