Edsel T. Rinehimer, 84, of Dorrance passed away suddenly Thursday, December 7, 2017 at home.
Born in Dorrance Township on September 9, 1933 he was a son of the late George and Edith (Stein) Rinehimer. He graduated from Newport High School, and served honorably in the Army National Guard for 6 years. He owned and operated his own dairy farm, and loved the labors it involved.
He was a faithful member of St. James Lutheran Church in Hobbie. In his spare time Edsel enjoyed playing on the church softball team. He also liked hunting, mostly for the camaraderie with others. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau. He liked attending the meetings, especially for the meals, and collecting the hats they handed out. He took pleasure in watching the Fourth of July fireworks. He adored his grandchildren and spending time with them.
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 57 years, Jane A. (Wenner) Rinehimer; children: Janet Lowery and husband Brent, Hobbie; Glenda Hannon, Dorrance; Scott Rinehimer and wife Tara, Dorrance; grandchildren: Joshua and Jeremy Lowery; Megan, Joseph, Curtis and Christopher Hannon, Brandon and Jordan Rinehimer; sister, Lois Yeager, Mountain Top; brothers, Arthur Rinehimer and wife Margaret, Bloomsburg; Floyd Rinehimer and wife Shirley, Hobbie; brother-in-law, Eugene Fenstermacher; sister-in-law, Ruth Rinehimer; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son in infancy; his son-in-law, Curtis Hannon; brother, George Rinehimer; and sisters, May Fenstermacher; Emily Bloss and husband Wilbur; Helen Rinehimer and husband Claude; and brother-in-law, Ray Yeager.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday, December 11, 2017 at St. James Lutheran Church, Hobbie, with Reverend Oliver Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Emmanuel Cemetery, Dorrance. Family will receive friends on Sunday, December 10, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 East Third Street, Nescopeck, PA 18635, and at the Church on Monday from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
