Mary Brown, 84, of Nescopeck Township, passed away Friday, March 9, 2018 at her home, which she shared with her husband of 64 years, Richard R. Brown.
Mary was born in Salem Twp. on July 9th, 1933. She was the daughter of the late Emery R. and Elsie M. (Seeley) Kisner, who owned and worked a farm and apple orchard in the rolling countryside near Beach Haven. She graduated from Berwick High School. Mary was a devoted full-time wife and mother, who dedicated her time to providing a loving home.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Berwick. She was a lifetime member of the Nescopeck Historical and Genealogical Society. She was a member of the Nescopeck Twp. Fire Hall, and a member of the Nescopeck Township Planning Committee for 8 years. She liked knitting and crocheting, as well as gardening. She was a Sunday School teacher at Mt. Zion Church and 4-H leader for several years when her children were younger. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed by her husband, Richard; children: Richard Brown and wife Ellie of Nescopeck; Diana (Brown) Stanley of Fort Knox; David Brown and wife Cindy of Dover, PA; Donald Brown and wife Sharmayne of Bloomsburg; Kay Lorraine Brown of Nescopeck; and Brent Brown and wife Megean of Bloomsburg; 20 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandson.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Sara “Sally” (Brown) Stanley; and dear brother, William “Bill” Kisner.
A memorial service will be held at St John’s United Church of Christ, 416 Church Road, Wapwallopen, at 11am on Wednesday, March 14th with Reverend Kathy Kinney officiating.
