Ronald J. Welkom, 81, of Catawissa, passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2021, at Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital, after a short battle with COVID.
Born in Slabtown on February 11, 1940, he was a son of the late John M. and Maryanne (Domanski) Welkom. He attended Cleveland Township Area Schools. Ron served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1961. He worked in New Jersey for a vending machine supply company as a mechanic for many years.
Ron enjoyed spending his time fishing with his grandchildren. He was also an avid card player, mostly playing cinch.
He will be greatly missed by his children: Patricia Miller and husband Donald, Catawissa; Deborah Erdman and husband Dave, Nescopeck; Ronnette Miller and husband Daniel, Millville; Eugene Welkom and wife Chrissy, Catawissa; 5 grandchildren, Crystal Garringer and husband Josh; Sean Murphy; Justin Miller; Justine Curto and husband Chris; Desiree Lebo and husband Christian; 8 great grandchildren, Bradley Miller; Gage Murphy; Faolan and Owen Garringer; Henry and Ellis Lebo; Oliver and Isabelle Curto. He also leaves behind a brother and 2 sisters.
In additions to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor M. (Hassler) Welkom; companion, Mary Woodside; and 2 brothers
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to please ask the public to consider getting a covid vaccination in memory of Ronald.
