Larry E. Johnson

Larry E. Johnson, also known as Superman, 75, of Catawissa passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at Bloomsburg Hospital Center where he was a patient since Friday.

Born in Bloomsburg on October 22, 1946, he was a son of the late Emanuel “Buss” and Ethel V. (Raup) Johnson. He attended Catawissa schools and graduated from Southern Columbia High School in 1964. After graduation, he worked with his father in the carpentry business. After his father retired, Larry was employed at Milco Industries. He also was a Township Supervisor for Catawissa. He served in the US Army Reserves for 7 years.

Larry was a member of Christ United Lutheran Church, Catawissa. He enjoyed woodwork and spent hours in his workshop repurposing old furniture, building birdhouses, and taking lawnmowers apart to make into wagons to be sold in his daughter’s store. He also helped her out whenever he could. He also liked being outdoors, whether working in his shop or sitting on the porch enjoying the weather.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 51 years, Carol A. (Markel) Johnson; daughters, Jennifer Ney and husband Michael, Mainville; Mindy Farnsworth, Danville; Pamela Samsel and husband Michael, Nescopeck; grandchildren: Christopher Farnsworth; Kiersten Farnsworth; Olivia Ney; Isabella Ney; step grandsons, Robert Samsel and Jordan Ney; great grandson, Blaise Samsel; sister, Janet Johnson, Catawissa; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dale Johnson.

Memorial services will be at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the family or Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 East Third Street, Nescopeck PA 18635 to help defray his final expenses.
