It is with heavy hearts we say Stephen D. Evan, Sr. of Shickshinny passed away November 4, 2021, in Wilkes Barre General Hospital.
He was the youngest of three sons, born on August 19, 1953, in the Nanticoke Hospital, to the late Joseph and Jennie Evan.
As a child, he was an altar server and enjoyed playing baseball. Steve graduated from John S. Fine High School, Nanticoke in 1970. He worked at Hasay Chevrolet as a teenager, then later was employed by Stabler and Hempt Bros. until being injured in 1991.
He was the union steward for United Steel Workers #102. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and was a Jimmy Spencer fan. Most of all, he was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his family.
Steve will be greatly missed by his wife of 38 years, Debbie; daughter, Erica (Eric) Kubasek, Mocanaqua; sons, Steve Jr., Hunlock Creek; and Joseph, Pittston; one grandson, Bryson Kubasek, who was the apple of his eye and best buddy in the world. He is also survived by his two brothers, Joe (Loretta), Shickshinny; and Kenny (Debra), Mocanaqua, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A viewing will be held from 9:00-10:00 am on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 East Third Street, Nescopeck, immediately followed by a funeral service. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Mocanaqua.
The family will provide flowers.
