Oscar N. Balliet, 82, of Shickshinny, passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at Birchwood Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Nanticoke, where he has been a resident for 5 years.
Born in Shickshinny on May 19, 1939, he was a son of the late Florence (DeFrain) and Howard Balliet, Sr. He attended Shickshinny High School. He worked as a carpenter and handyman for many years throughout his life.
Oscar lived in a high rise in Nanticoke for many years where he was President of the renter’s association for three years. In his younger years he enjoyed working on cars, carpentry, and hunting.
He will be greatly missed by his children: Bud Balliet and wife Kim, Lewistown; Robert “Bobby” Balliet and wife Michele, Shickshinny; Joanne Wagner and companion Alvin, Shickshinny; 5 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind sisters: Sandy, Rose, and Dora; brothers: Alvin, Frank, Elwood; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, David Balliet; sisters, Barb, Amanda “Dolly”; brothers, Bobbie, Allen, Howard Jr. Thorton, and Jessie.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
