Carl R. Dietterick, 92, of Nescopeck passed away on Thursday, December 2, 2021, after a short stay at the Gardens at Orangeville.
Born on October 31, 1929, and raised in Beach Haven, he was a son of the late Jack L Dietterick and Mary P (Gibbons) Sheetz. He entered the National Guard and served for several years before enlisting in the US Army and retired after almost 22 years of service. He was stationed for many years in Germany and France and served 3 tours in Vietnam, earning a bronze star. After an honorable discharge he worked as a truck driver and school bus drive for many years and most recently was a shuttle bus driver for Bloomsburg University, retiring at the age of 86.
Carl was a very outgoing and social person who was well liked by others. He was mechanically gifted and often helped others with many different projects. He liked watching football and attending games to watch his grandsons play.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 43 years, Nancy L. (Traugh) Dietterick; daughter, Candice McGaw and husband Aaron, Bloomsburg; son, Jack Dietterick and wife Kaleena, Bloomsburg; grandchildren, Ryleigh and Olivia McGaw; Landon, Hunter, Maddex, Iron, Axel and Annalee Dietterick; and Renae Lupini; brother, Blake Dietterick; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John Dietterick; daughter, Susan Albertson; brothers, Daniel and Donald Dietterick.
Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, December 10, 2021, at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 East Third Street, Nescopeck. A graveside service in St James Cemetery, Zenith will be held at the convenience of his family.
