David C. Bogart, TSgt., Ret., United States Air Force, 74, of Berwick, passed away unexpectedly at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, with his wife, and loved ones by his side on December 6th, 2021.
He was born in East Rochester NY, on December 1, 1947, son of the late Charles and Shirley (Ruhmel) Bogart. After graduating from Berwick Senior High School in 1965, he went on to enlist in the United States Air Force. During his service he was recognized for being a Crew Chief on the first Transport to land in Vietnam. The 776th Tactical Airlift Squadron, Lockheed C-130-E Hercules which carried 120 South Vietnamese Rangers, and a Marine Advisor from base. He was also a member of the Hurricane Hunters, which flew into the storms to gather weather data. He was particularly proud that his grandson, Darian, followed in his footsteps enlisting in the Air force. Following his USAF retirement, he worked for the PPL power plant until he retired at 62.
He was a long time Berwick Youth Football Coach, who brought his team to the super bowl to win five times in a row. Although, it was not about the winning to him, just that the kids had fun, and learned the game. David had a heart of gold and put his family before everything in life. This year, David and his wife, Sue, were able to celebrate their 50th year together. They had built a beautiful life with 4 children, David C. Bogart, Jr. and wife Dawn; Robert Bogart and wife Diana; Jason Bogart and wife Jennifer; Jerri Bogart-Wenner and husband Cody; 8 grandchildren, and 10 Great-Grandchildren, in which he loved spending much of his time with. He also leaves behind brothers, Daniel Bogart, and Dennis Bogart.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 East Third Street, Nescopeck. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Berwick. Family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until the time of service.
