Susan (Yalch) DeFinnis passed away peacefully on December 9th, 2021, of natural causes at Sunset Ridge Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, where she had been a resident for the past three years. She was 96 years old.
Throughout her life, she was an accomplished seamstress who enjoyed making curtains for friends, family, and her own home. An avid gardener, she planted beautiful gardens each summer and took pride in keeping a beautiful yard and home. Susan enjoyed traveling and summer beach vacations with family. Above all else, Susan was passionate about ballroom dancing. She was a wonderful dancer, from the Foxtrot to the Jitterbug, Meringue to Cha Cha, and everything in between; she knew them all and spent weekends traveling with friends and family to find the best bands and venues to dance, well into her eighties.
Susan was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel DeFinnis, and one granddaughter, Stacey Kowalski. She is survived by her two daughters, Kathleen Gregory and Sally DeFinnis and her husband William Davenport; her son, Darius DeFinnis; one brother, Joseph Yalch of Sunbury; two grandchildren, Mick Kowalski and Joshua Fought; and five great-grandchildren.
After a private ceremony with immediate family, interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery in Berwick.
The family would like to thank the Sunset Ridge Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center family for the compassionate care they provided Susan in her last years.
