John J. Hanley, 84, of Berwick, passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born on July 8, 1937, in Jersey City, New Jersey he was a son of the late James and Helen (Lynch) Hanley. He attended Jersey area schools and earned his GED while serving honorably in the United States Army. John worked for the city of Bayonne, New Jersey as a plumber for 35 years until his retirement.
He was a member of Faith United Evangelical Lutheran Church, Nescopeck. He enjoyed working in the yard and watching cowboy movies. He was a big John Wayne Fan. Most of all John was a kind man who would help anyone he could.
He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 56 years, Rose M. (Bickens) Hanley, at home; children, Joseph Hanley and fiancé Mary Beth, New Jersey; Daniel Hanley and wife Jeanette, New Jersey; grandchildren, Scott, and Megan. He also leaves behind brothers, James Hanley and wife Kathy, New Jersey; Michael Hanley and wife Diane, Pennsylvania; Thomas Hanley, New Jersey; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John Hanley; brothers, Joseph, and William Hanley; sisters, Ann Koch, Marion Parro, Joan Hanley, and Patricia Hanley.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at Faith United Evangelical Lutheran Church, 801 E 3rd St, Nescopeck, PA 18635. Interment will follow at Schloyersville Cemetery, Briggsville. Family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until the time of service.
