Albert Shimko, Jr, age 70 of Berwick passed away on Monday, May 2, 2022, at his home, surrounded by family.
Born in Berwick on November 24, 1951, he was a son of the late Albert Shimko Sr and Alva O (Holloway) Shimko. He was a graduate of Berwick Area High School, class of 1969, and served in the National Guard for 26 years. He worked as a machinist at General Machine and later, G&B Specialties in Berwick.
Albert was a member of the VFW Post 821 Auxiliary, Berwick, the Eagle Hose Company, the West Berwick Fire Company, and the American Ukrainian Club. He was a past member of the Russian Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of nearly 50 years, Yvonne M (Moser) Shimko; daughters, Autumn Rupert, Clarksville, TN; April Whitmoyer, Berwick; Angela Wagner and husband Matt, McClure, PA; cherished grandchildren: Kayla Miklossy; Katelyn Rupert; Hunter Whitmoyer; Dakota Simpson; Bailey Wagner; and Kady Wagner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Fred Rupert and 2 stepbrothers.
A memorial service will start at 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at the VFW Post 821, Berwick.
