Ruth M. (Arnold) Rinehimer, age 95, of Hobbie concluded her journey in this life on August 27, 2022, at Glenbrook Rehab and Healthcare, Berwick. Born in Wanamie on October 31, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Stanley T. and Myrtle (Foust) Arnold. She was raised in Wanamie and attended Newport High School. She worked at a dress factory and cigar factory in Nanticoke in her younger years. In 1951, she was married to George C. Rinehimer and they lived together on the family farm. Aside from helping with the work required from the farm, she was a devoted wife and mother who spent her time making a loving home for her husband and their 4 children. She enjoyed baking, cooking, and gardening and canned much of the fruit and vegetables they harvested. She also liked sewing, planting flowers, bird watching and most of all, spending time with her family. Ruth was a member of St James Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hobbie where she was currently the oldest living member. She was a Sunday School teacher and helped with Vacation Bible School, a member of the alter guild and the Ladies Aid which later became WELCA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband George, who passed away in 2012 after 61 years of marriage. She is also preceded by her brother, Theodore Arnold; sisters, Joan Myers; June Jones; and Roxanne Shovlin. She will be greatly missed by her daughters, Kathleen A. Hollingshead; Eileen M. Smith and husband David; Alice K. Haydt and husband John “Jack”; son George S. Rinehimer and wife Betty; cherished grandchildren, Paula Gizenski and husband Al; Timothy Hollingshead and wife Caroline; Amy Bowman and husband Barney; Mark Smith and wife Penny; Andrew Rinehimer and companion Caitland; John Haydt Jr and wife LeighAnne; and Brandon Haydt; adored great grandchildren, Hannah; Benjamin; Christopher; Oliver; Alexandra; Sarah; Aaron; and Henry. She is also survived by sisters, Susan Ogin; Florence May; many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. A memorial service will be held at 5:00pm on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at St James Church, 827 East County Road, Wapwallopen with her pastor, Reverend Oliver Brown officiating. Family will receive friends from 4:00pm until the time of service. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. James Lutheran Church.
