Donald P. Eroh

Donald P. Eroh, age 91, of Mountain Top passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at Guardian Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Nanticoke.

Born in Ashley on February 14, 1931, he was the son of the late Paul F. and Dorothy I. (Peters) Eroh. Donald was a graduate of Newport High School, class of 1949. In 1952 he entered the US Army and served during the Korean War until 1954. After an honorable discharge, he worked at Follmer Trucking Company for many years and retired from North Penn Trucking Company. 

In 1952, he married his beloved wife Mary E. (Drum) Eroh. Together they raised 4 daughters and were wonderful grandparents to several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, before she passed away on February 3, 2019.

Donald was a very active member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, where he was an organist and participated with several organizations in church. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Rice Township Fire Department and an EMT for the ambulance for many years. Donald was also a member of the Mountain Top American Legion Post 781. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and spent many of his hours completely remodeling and updating his house.

He will be greatly missed by his daughters, Denise Dean and husband James, Dorrance; Donna Walck and husband John, Dorrance; Doreen Oldershaw and husband Don, Mountain Top; Darla Cadwalader and husband Kevin, Manteca, CA; grandchildren, John, Eric, Erin, Tristan, Shane, Bianca, Lauren, Blake, and Glynis; great-grandchildren, Nate, Clayton, Layla, Aidan, Mikayla, Emma, Landyn, and Abbigayle. He also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Dorrance. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday evening, October 7,2022, at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 E Third St, Nescopeck and from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 7768 Blue Ridge Trail, Mountain Top, PA 18707.

The family would like to extend a special “thank you” to those who were involved in Donald’s comfort and care, especially Aveanna, formerly Angels Touch, Commonwealth Hospice of Berwick, and Guardian Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
