Richard L. Hutchinson, Sr.

Richard L. Hutchinson, 84, of Oak Leaf Manor, Millersville left this life and entered his Heavenly home on October 20, 2022.

Born in Berwick on June 11, 1938, he was the son of the late Irene Hays and stepfather, Charles Hays. He was proceeded in death by his loving wife, Carol, to whom he was married for 65 years. Rich built the beautiful home they shared in rural Nescopeck for 54 years.

Rich graduated from Central Columbia High School in 1957. Following several years of employment at Magee Carpet in Bloomsburg, Rich was employed in the construction field most of his adult life, retiring from Strausser Construction in 2000. Rich was a skilled craftsman, building furniture and completing home improvement projects for family and friends.

He gave freely of himself for many years through dedicated Christian service to the Hope Center in Nescopeck and St. James Lutheran Church, Zenith, as well as participating in several mission trips to South American countries. Rich’s love of farming endured throughout his lifetime and contributed to his prized collection of toy tractors and farm implements. Through these enterprises and interests, Rich served as a self-less role model to all who had the privilege of working beside him.

Rich will be greatly missed by daughters: Lori Davis (Dennis) of Leesburg, Georgia; Cynthia Hutchinson (Craig Rodabaugh) of Elizabethtown, PA; Susan Woodworth (Dwayne) of Huntsville, Alabama; Patricia Collins (Andrew) of Conestoga, PA; and son, Richard Hutchinson, Jr. (Tasha) of Nescopeck RD, PA; grandchildren: Jamie Potter, Timothy Potter, Jason Robbins, Justin Robbins, Adrianne Robbins, Jessica Rodabaugh, Eric Rodabaugh, Andrew Rodabaugh, Sarah Parrish, Jonathan Woodworth, Christopher Collins, Corey Collins, Kaitlyn Hutchinson and Connor Hutchinson; great-grandchildren: Claudia, Noah, Ella, Samuel, Micah, Haley, Emily, Lilly, Katlyn, Austin, Caleb, Taylor, Logan, Aiden and Callan; and great-great grandsons, Kaysin and Coen.
