Elizabeth “Libby” I. (Whitenight) Sinibaldi, 96, formerly of State Hill, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, November 12, 2022, at The Gardens at Orangeville.
Born in Forks on July 7, 1926, she was eighth of 12 children born to the late Harold G. and Florence K. (Lewis) Whitenight. She was educated in North Centre Township, Fishing Creek, and then Benton.
She married her loving husband, Louis “Louie” Sinibaldi on April 16, 1946. His passing on October 26, 2012, ended a marital span of 66 ½ years.
In her younger years, she was employed at AC & F in Berwick and then Magee Carpet Company in Bloomsburg. After her children were born, she was a stay-at-home mother. She re-entered the workforce after her children were older. Libby worked at Fulton Lamp Company until it closed and then at Wise Potato Chip Company retiring in 1991.
She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Berwick. Along with her husband Louie, she raised many large vegetable gardens and delighted in canning for the family. She also enjoyed growing many flowers. Libby played the piano at anyone’s request, playing mostly hymns. Her grandchildren delighted in playing games, such as dominoes, as well as sports, like basketball with her. She was fortunate to be able to do this into her late years. Libby often said “I love you forever and ever” to each family member, but especially to Louie.
She will be greatly missed by her daughters, Diana Slusser and husband David, Berwick; Florence Cadwallader, Berwick; son Louis “Tony” Sinibaldi, Orangeville. We couldn’t have had a better mother. She also leaves behind 8 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 5 step great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; 2 step great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Libby will be deeply missed by her family and remembered for her loving kindness and generosity.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Bruce Cadwallader on December 17, 2018; brothers: Harold in 1995, Donald in 2009, Robert in 2005, Jesse in 2015, and David in 2001; sisters: Betty Buckalew in 1965; Frances Hess in 1995; Marie Craver in 2011; Madalyn Hack in 1995; Pearl Rogers in 2018; and Patricia McAfee in 2020.
