Lillian A. Petraglia

Lillian A. Petraglia, 80, of Berwick, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2022, in Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born on July 21, 1942, in Long Island City, New York, she was the daughter of the late Anna (Capri) and Phillip Petraglia. She attended Flushing High School in New York. For most of her life, she worked at Interstate Packaging in Walden and later at Giordano and Associates in New York until moving to Berwick in 2005.  For many years, she enjoyed working with the children at the local YMCA.

Lillian, a devout Catholic, was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Berwick. She was also the president of the Berwick Senior Center Board where she enjoyed many social interactions with her dear friends.  Lillian was also the vice president of the Berwick thrift shop.

She enjoyed hobbies that involved helping others such as being there for children in need at the Big Brothers Big Sisters Association of America. Her family and friends would say she was a wonderful woman who loved life and other people. She also enjoyed being a godmother to her nieces and nephews: Joseph Petraglia, Julie Moore, and Loretta Petraglia, as well as Barbara’s son Bill Brewer and his wife Michelle and their families.  Lillian shared many happy times with her lifelong best friend, Ellen Stier. 

She will be greatly missed by her brother Joseph Petraglia and his wife Julia, New Jersey; niece Carleen Galasso and nephew Guy Petraglia.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her life partner Barbara DuBois who passed away on October 16, 2020. She was also preceded in death by her two brothers Guy and Phillip Petraglia; and niece, Arleen P. Benson.

In conjunction with the Berwick Senior Center, a Memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Berwick on Saturday, January 14th at 11:00 AM.  Immediately following, a funeral reception will be held at the Berwick Senior Center.  Please bring your fondest memories to share with family and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Church, 721 Monroe Street, Berwick and the Berwick Senior Center.
