Ruth A. (Alley) Bogart

Ruth A. (Alley) Bogart, 77, of Briar Creek Township passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2022 at Sunset Ridge Healthcare and Rehab, Bloomsburg. She was surrounded by her loving family.Born in Berwick on September 23, 1945, she was the youngest of eight children born to the late Saide and Lillian (Severt) Alley. She was a graduate of Berwick High School, class of 1963. Ruth took on many professional roles throughout her life. She began at Montgomery Ward, then became employed at Berwick Hospital for over 20 years in the business office, in addition to her elected role as a Supervisor for Briar Creek Township.In 1967, Ruth married the love of her life, Ronald I. Bogart. They built a life together, raised 3 daughters and enjoyed hobby farming. Ruth and Ron created a beautiful legacy before his passing in July of 2021.Ruth was an active member in many community organizations. She was a member of Summerhill United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Briar Creek Water Shed, and Briar Creek Grange. She volunteered with fund raising for the McBride Memorial Library and was a High School Reunion Committee Member. She had a green thumb and loved tending to her large flower garden. Ruth loved animals and over the years, she fostered many strays. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.She will be greatly missed by her daughters, Rachel Bogart and husband John Coates, Berwick; Ronda Bogart, Massachusetts; Renee Bogart and husband Anthony Matyjaszewski, Maine; nephew, Kevin Alley, Berwick and his son Nicholas of NJ; cherished grandchildren, John, Evan and Violet Coates; Michael Karakkal; Mina, Fiona, and Hugo Matyjaszewski. She also leaves behind sisters, Marion DiPasquale, Danville, PA; Freda Grace Seiple, Berwyn, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Nageb Alley; Joseph Alley; David Alley; and Franklin Alley; and sister, Jane DeFebo.Per their wishes, a memorial service for Ruth and Ronald will be held in the spring.Memorial contributions are suggested to Commonwealth Hospice of Berwick or Briar Creek Water Shed.
