Beatrice Cordelia (Chapin) Miller

Beatrice C. (Chapin) Miller, 97, of Nescopeck Township passed away peacefully on December 13, 2022, surrounded by her family.

Born in Pond Hill on July 20, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Fred R. and Mabel R. (Andress) Chapin. She graduated from Nescopeck High School, class of 1943. During WWII she worked at the AC&F. Later she was employed at Bercon.

In June of 1946, she married her “knight in shining armor”, Donald L. Miller Sr. They bought a farm and raised 6 children together, sharing 73 years of marriage before his passing in 2019.

Bea was an active member of the Berwick Assembly of God, where she was a member of the Joy Club and choir. She also cooked for the migrant missions and did other missionary work. Bea was also a hospice volunteer. She was instrumental in starting the 4-H Club in Zenith. She liked canning the produce that was grown on the family farm which was then sold at the farmer’s market along with her renowned pies which were also sold and served in restaurants. Her decorating, cooking and entertainment were enjoyed by others throughout the year. She loved playing the harmonica, which she was able to do until last year. She was a perfectionist at quilting, making quilts for each of her children and grandchildren, and a talented seamstress who made clothes for her children when they were young, as well as their bridal and wedding attire. She wrote articles for Panorama magazine and published a book of poems titled “Journey Thru Life”.

She will be greatly missed by her children, Joan Chapin, Berwick; Barbara Robinholt; Donald Miller Jr and wife Cheryl; Virginia Conner and husband Brad; Crystal Shields and husband Gary, all from Nescopeck Twp; 14 cherished grandchildren; and 25 adored great grandchildren. She also leaves behind brothers, Ralph Chapin and wife Gloria, Denver PA; and Larry Chapin and companion Judy Schnerr, Wapwallopen; and she was loved by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Linda Paisley; son-in-law, David Robinholt; brothers, Howard, Harold, Fred Jr, and Rich; sisters, Edna Wenner, Edith Seigfreid, and Harriet Chapin.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at Berwick Assembly of God, Berwick with Rev. Ralph Chapin, Rev. Scott Winters and granddaughter, Jennifer Daniels co-officiating. Interment will follow in St James Cemetery, Zenith. Family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until the time of service.
